OFF-SITE RECAP, HOW DID IT GO?

12821333_10208845838247618_1769013832354123666_n 12800367_10208845828407372_4863861148672248318_n IMG_0711

A couple of weeks ago all of our small groups met off-site (meaning not at the church) because we wanted to intentionally “help decentralize the source of ministry from having to happen at the CHURCH building to the small groups who are the CHURCH body. And, help change our mindset from “going to church” to “being the church.”

After the off-site I received the following feedback:

“Sunday was great! We had eight girls over for a couple of hours and just spent some time talking, eating, and playing games. I remember thinking how it felt like something we’d do with family (like my younger cousins) when they come over. That was cool, to see our girls as family instead of just people at church.  In that respect, I think being away from church helped me to remember/better see the Church as a community rather than a building/program. Hopefully, the students were able to see each other, and us, in that light as well.” – Leader

“Almost all of our girls came, and it was good to have unstructured time to simply enjoy being together and to grow relationships. I could see a broader view of the girls lives and personalities outside of the church atmosphere. It was also nice to see the parents when they dropped off/picked up. I hope that we can keep getting them involved.” -Leader

” Sunday night was a blast!! The guys came over. We had some pizza, played outside for 30 mins or so and then spent another 2 or 3 hours playing video games (the classic super smash brothers on the N64). I felt like it was an awesome time just to hangout, learn more about each of them. We weren’t very intentional for the night, but I want to do it again with them and talk over some food. I think I would focus on their goals after high school, including how they are going to find fellow believers and a place where they can continue to build the relationship with Christ!” – Leader

“I really appreciated the parents being involved! And the food was great too!” -Leader

“I thought it went fantastic! I was unsure how things would go because we had planned something else last Sunday and then realized it wasn’t going to work so I was hoping the boys wouldn’t be disappointed. But I really think they loved it! As we were driving back to the church they were saying how they wanted to do it again! It almost felt like a mini Skyview experience in terms of getting to know our boys better.” – Leader

“Thank you for orchestrating this. And a special thank you to those who opened their homes. My girls & their friends found the fellowship extra sweet tonight. God bless you all.” – Parent

“So thankful for Micah and his investment on the lives of these boys.” – Parent

Praise God from whom all good things come from. Thanks to all the leaders and parents who made the Off-Site happen. It wasn’t perfect, it took a lot of flexibility from everyone, but it was fruitful.

FUSE & ONE-80 OFF-SITE!!

PERFECT (2).jpgHey everybody,

I need your help on something new. We are experimenting with FUSE and ONE-80 a bit coming up Sunday night, March 6th

The purpose of FUSE and ONE80 is to reach non-christian students for Christ while developing Christian Students into servant-leaders for Christ’s church.

The goal to “develop” into a Christ-follower is directly attached to the mission of seeking to reach non-Christians. We can’t expect to become more like Christ, without attempting to further His Kingdom, as that was His main purpose for coming.

Therefore, the goal of this off-site is for your small group to have your own time to be silly, have fun and discuss how your small group fits into the purpose of FUSE & ONE80.

PARENTS: Here is where you come in. Would you be open to hosting a small group on the night of March 6th. If so, I am putting the ball in your court to contact your students small group leader no later then Feb. 24. Understandably, a small group may have more than one option for meeting, but how encouraging to know that there are multiple options!

Your students small group leader will send a note/text/or email to their small group by Feb. 28th with the location where they are meeting on March 6th. This will provide plenty of time to work out carpooling, directions, and rides. Jr. High leaders will send a paper home with their students, and I will upload them on the closed Facebook group you can access HERE. Communication will provide drop-off times, pick-up times, and leader contact info.

We believe that going off-site will help decentralize the source of ministry from having to happen at the CHURCH building to the small groups who are the CHURCH body. And, help change our mindset from “going to church” to “being the church.”

Appreciate you all,

Joey Turner
